Google Calendar Sync
This feature syncs one item in Everyone's Vertical Calendar with one Google Calendar, one-to-one. When you add, edit, or delete an event on either side, the change is applied automatically to the other.
Syncing runs on our servers, so it works even when the app is closed. Imported events behave like any other event: they are visible to everyone sharing the calendar, and they appear in widgets and notifications.
This feature is available to premium members or paid calendars. Only the calendar administrator can set up or remove a sync.
How this differs from “Integration”
This works differently from “Google Calendar Integration” above.
- Integration (Show System Calendar) … Reads and displays the Google Calendar registered on your device. The events stay in Google Calendar, so people you share Everyone's Vertical Calendar with cannot see them.
- Sync … Brings the events themselves into an item of Everyone's Vertical Calendar. Everyone sharing the calendar can see them, and syncing works even when the app is closed.
Requirements
- A premium membership or a paid calendar
- You must be the administrator (with edit rights) of that calendar
- Set it up in the mobile app (iOS / Android) — the web version cannot set up a sync
- One sync per user (one item ⇄ one Google Calendar)
How to set up a sync
- Open Everyone's Vertical Calendar and tap the menu (top-left), then tap “Google Calendar sync”.
- Tap the Sync button on the item you want to sync.
- Choose your Google account and, on the permission screen, make sure the calendar-related checkboxes are ticked before continuing. Syncing will not work if they are unchecked.
- Select the Google Calendar you want to sync with. Calendars you cannot write to (for example, ones shared with you as view-only) cannot be selected.
- On the confirmation screen, choose the sync direction. Tick both for two-way sync, or just one for one-way sync.
- Google Calendar → item: you can also choose the color applied to imported events.
- Item → Google Calendar: events you enter in Everyone's Vertical Calendar are sent to Google Calendar.
- For each direction you can choose to also import existing events from today onward (past events are never synced).
- Tap Sync to finish the setup.
From then on, events added, edited, or deleted on either calendar are synced in real time. If you chose to import existing events, the initial import starts a few minutes later.
What gets synced
Synced
- Date
- Start and end time
- Title
- Memo (plain text only)
Not synced
- Colors (events imported from Google Calendar are given the color you chose when setting up the sync)
- Photos and attachments
- Text formatting (memos are synced as plain text)
Events that cannot be synced
- Recurring events
- All-day events spanning multiple days
- Events of 24 hours or longer
- Events dated before the day you set up the sync
Things to know
- Creating, editing, or deleting an event on one side does the same on the other side.
- The same item or the same Google Calendar cannot be synced more than once — syncing is always one-to-one.
- If you choose to import existing events, those events become visible to everyone sharing the calendar.
- Deleting an event in Google Calendar also deletes it in Everyone's Vertical Calendar, including for everyone sharing it.
- The sync is removed automatically if your paid period ends or you lose administrator rights to the calendar.
- The sync also stops if you revoke access on the Google side. To resume, set up the sync again.
Checking and removing a sync
- Tap the menu (top-left) and tap “Check synced Google Calendars”.
- You will see the item name, Google Calendar name, account, sync direction, and the date from which events are synced.
- Tap Disconnect to remove the sync (only the calendar administrator can do this).
Even after you disconnect, events that were already synced remain on both sides — nothing is deleted. If you later sync the same item with the same Google Calendar again, the existing events are carried over without duplicates.
